Pay As You Go Gym Membership As An Antidote For Expensive Annual Contracts

With the summer round the corner, many are thinking about joining a gym. Gym membership can, however, be more expensive than you hoped! It is not unusual having to pay up to sixty pounds a month for a membership in a fancier gym.

What is even worse, since they charge you via direct debit, the amount you pay has nothing to do with how much you actually use their gym! Whether you manage to turn up once – or not at all! – you will be charged the same amount.

For years, gyms benefitted from our laziness or overcommitment, knowing full well that those who joined in January will probably be gone in a few weeks. Most Gym membership renew automatically: so, what if you move house, get pregnant, or fall ill? Some gyms will give you a hard time when you try to cancel your membership.

Luckily, in recent times, with the proliferation of a pay as you go gym model, there are no more excuses left not to stick to your fitness regime. Pay as you go is a true pay-as-you-go service: there are no subscription fees of any kind. In a pay as you go gym, you will pay for the workouts you actually do. If so happens that you never step a foot in a particular pay as you go gym in a certain month, you will not have to pay at all.

Even though is pay as you go gym more expensive in the short term, it will give you a chance to try out the gym before you commit for a year. (And, if your employer has a deal with the gym, you may be able to negotiate when signing an annual contract, and avoid paying a joining fee. Off-peak membership should be cheaper as well!) The alternative to pay as you go, however – signing an annual gym membership contract, when you are not entirely sure that you will use (or like!) the gym as much as you’d hope – is much more expensive!

So, where do one finds such a “pay as you go” place? As with almost everything these days – online! There are websites which allow you to do a search for “gyms near me”, and will list all gyms offering this type of gym membership at your location. After you decide on the gym, all you have to do is pay with PayPal, and present the code you will be given at the gym reception!
